Unlike traditional oil drums, plastic screw top drums don't have a defined top lip to grip onto, for this reason, we use a band on the DTC02 instead of a drum gripper. We supply this plastic barrel trolley with a set of rubber-lined fixed radius pads. The pads grip the drum and along with the ratchet securing system secure the barrel in place. The pads accommodate a wide range of barrel diameters and are useful when unusual plastic barrels need to be moved. If you are handling a drum that has a defined top lip then our signature Universal Drum Trolley can be used instead.
A heavy-duty 50mm stainless steel ratchet and polyester webbing strap is fitted to the barrel trolley. Once the trolley is positioned next to the barrel, simply adjust the strap length and tighten securely around the container. This design maximises contact between the rubber pads and the barrel mover offering a safe and secure system.
When you move the barrel trolley into the deployed position, the wheels move beneath the barrel. By positioning the centre of gravity (CoG) directly over the wheels, the force required to move a barrel is significantly reduced when compared to a traditional sack truck. This innovative design feature was pioneered by us in 1999 and continues to be popular around the world.
All our barrel handling trolleys are manufactured from corrosion-resistant stainless steel (304-grade). Throughout industry, our trolleys are subjected to very harsh environments and high levels of use. By using only the finest materials and manufacturing techniques we ensure each trolley outperforms and outlasts all other barrel trolleys on the market.
Our Barrel Handling Trolley is designed for moving barrels weighing up to 350kg on flat level ground. We supply the trolley with high-quality elasticated rubber wheels which last many years of continuous usage. Precision bearings are fitted to the wheels offering low rolling resistance, this makes the unit easy to operate on a variety of hard floor surfaces.
This barrel mover can handle a wide range of barrel types including high-density polyethylene (HDPE) food containers with screw top lids. These barrels are known to contain foods such as olives and pickles and are often difficult to handle, predominantly due to their unusual lid type. For a breakdown of the barrels with which this product is compatible, please see the suitability document below. If the barrels you use aren’t in the document, contact us and we'll give you guidance.
