Automatic drum catch

Made from stainless steel plates and machined bushes our automatic drum gripper allows operators to connect the barrel stacker to a variety of different drum types. The gripper will handle steel and plastic 100- to 220-litre drums providing they weigh more than 50kg; the drum must have some weight to force the gripper to close (won't grip empty drums). To use the gripper the operator simply raises the catch up until it is level with the top rim of the drum, they then push the unit forwards so the top hook goes over the edge of the drum, the unit's black handle is then pumped to raise the gripper which simultaneously closes the jaws over the lip of the drum. The operator keeps pumping the handle until the drum is at the desired height.

Drum stacking

The hydraulic drum stacker is fitted with a chain lift system which offers up to 1080mm clearance beneath the drum. This amount of lift height is useful for stacking drums and barrels vertically on top of one another or for loading drums onto tall platforms or pallets.  The automatic catch design means that the operator does not need to reach forward and touch the gripper. The unit can be used to handle drums where the drum itself is out of reach of the operator. The drum is secured and released using the drum weight alone to apply the gripping pressure.  We also offer a standard height Counterbalance Drum Lifter for moving drums on and off pallets at a low level.

Rear-wheel steering

This unit has rear-wheel tiller steering, the benefit of this is that the unit has a tight turning circle which is useful if you’re using the sts stacker in a confined space. The rear park brake can be applied to keep the unit static when not in use. We use high-quality polyurethane wheels to ensure a low rolling resistance. Precision bearings offer premium wheel performance in harsh work environments.  We recommend using the unit on flat and level ground to get the best out of the equipment.

Manual hydraulic pump

Our engineers assemble our hydraulic pump assemblies by hand in our UK factory to ensure that each hydraulic system is clean, reliable and safe. During the manufacturing process, our team tests and inspects every pump to ensure they work smoothly and effectively. To lift a drum operators pump the drum stacker's handle back and forth which raises the height of the ram rod which then lifts the drum. The pump has been designed to be ergonomic so that the amount of force required to lift a drum is low and meets all manual handling guidelines.

Drum suitability

This unit is suitable for lifting steel, plastic and fibreboard drums of between 100 to 220 litres in volume. The drum must have a minimum weight of 50kg to activate the automatic gripper. Empty drums cannot be lifted with this machine as weight is required to activate the gripping mechanism.

ATEX / UKEX-certified model for Zone 1, 2, 21 and 22 (optional)

Certain organisations require the use of zoned equipment for use in explosive/hazardous atmospheres. We provide fully-certified ATEX / UKEX stackers for use in these areas.  Our DTP08-R1260-Ex Counterbalance Drum Stacker is suitable for gas and dust classified spaces: Zone 1, 2, 21 and 22. The drum stacker is manufactured to ensure electrical continuity, and a path to ground is always present. All our ATEX / UKEX drum lifters are supplied with a Declaration of Conformity which states compliance with the directives and relevant British and ISO Standards.
